Program outline:
Body weight exercises, Filipino Martial Arts: Stick, knife, empty hand, grappling, improvised weapons, flexible weapons, optional free form and competitive sparring,
Program summary:
Students will learn a variety of body weight exercises that will provide a source of fitness in any location or circumstance. In addition to learning these techniques, students will be able to focus on learning a viable and practical system of martial arts that focuses on principles and ease of application, rather than lengthy memorization and specific applications.
Levels:
Inner Circle Combatives uses a 'No-Belt' system. This translates to a leveling system that doesn't have the preconception of what a 'colored belt' is. There are however, tests and level certification. The levels are Basic/ level 1 and 2, Intermediate level 1 and 2, Advanced level 1 and 2 and Full Instructor. The exception to the 'no-belt' system is the Full Instructor level that carries with it a "Black Belt" designation along with the title of Guro, which simply means teacher in the FMA (Filipino Martial Arts) community.
Testing is done on a quarterly basis and there is no cost associated for lower level testing. The final test for the full instructor level will be for a fee. This will reflect the privilege of being able to develop and teach your own program.
In The Power Fit Kid’s Club©, your child will learn to enjoy the health benefits of a fun and challenging exercise program. This program can be modified for any level of student so as to encourage optimal growth and benefit.
A full exercise program such as this one can increase muscle tone and stamina as well as increasing the effectiveness of the cardiovascular system to facilitate fat burning.
Among other exercises your child will learn the PRIME THREE. Three exercises that, when done properly, are an excellent foundation to health and flexibility and can be done anywhere, anytime!
a.k.a Arnis, Escrima, Kali
Your instructor, Jason Palfrey, has been a practitioner of martial arts for over 12 years and has been teaching others about self confidence and self defense for the last five years.
Jason’s primary art is the Filipino art of Arnis (pronounced: are niece). Arnis is a martial style that differs from others in that it focuses on building gross (large) muscle movement first by utilizing rattan sticks as a training tool.
As the student of Arnis progresses, so do the movements. The large movements are refined and progress into empty hand techniques, reflexes are honed and accuracy increased.
The effectiveness of the Filipino Arts is evident as many other schools have recently begun adding a “Filipino” component to their own curriculum.
In the art of Arnis, students learn to use their rattan sticks, improvised tools, empty hand, as well as grappling, throws, and locks to defend themselves as well as others. Students both young and old will learn an appreciation for the many skills gained in Arnis.
The Power Fit Kid’s Club© was developed by Guro Jason Palfrey; a certified instructor in Arnis de Cadena, in direct response to seeing many young children developing unhealthy eating and exercise habits. Jason himself is a product of the ‘TV’ generation that seems to put more time and energy into watching television than to developing healthy bodies and minds. Change must come by conscious choice and helpful direction.
Jason, along with his assistant instructor and wife Angella, are the parents of five children that have differing personalities and needs, consequently, Jason is able to successfully modify and adapt his program to the needs of each student easily so that an enjoyable experience will be had.
Our system of martial arts does not focus on a ‘belting’ system, but rather recognition of achievement as the student shows proficiency and knowledge of a particular level. Certificates will be awarded as levels are completed. The exception to this is the Black Belt and Junior Black Belt achievement levels.
